How to Adjust Your Glasses
A Practical Guide for a Comfortable and Secure Fit
Whether you've just gotten new glasses or have been wearing them for a while, the frames may pinch your nose, slip out of place, or appear crooked. Instead of taking them to an optometrist for an adjustment, you can do it yourself by following these steps.
Stand in front of a mirror and look straight ahead. Make sure the center of the lenses is level with the center of your eyes. Check the fit and make any necessary adjustments to ensure they sit properly.
1. Your glasses are resting too low on your nose.
FOR WIRE FRAME GLASSES
Use your thumbs to carefully adjust the nose pads, bringing them closer together on both sides until they fit comfortably.

FOR PLASTIC FRAME GLASSES
Place the earpieces under warm water (not boiling) for 30-60 seconds. Then, gently bend the earpieces downward to add a slight curve.

2. Your glasses are sitting too high on your nose.
FOR WIRE FRAME GLASSES
Use your thumbs to gently push the nose pads outward on both sides until they sit comfortably and securely on your nose.

FOR PLASTIC FRAME GLASSES
Place the earpieces under warm water (not boiling) for 30-60 seconds. Then, gently bend the earpieces upward to soften the curve.

3. Your glasses appear crooked or are tilted to one side.
Place your glasses upside down on a flat surface to check if both temple arms rest evenly. If they don't, you'll need to adjust the temple arms or the earpieces to level them out.
FOR WIRE FRAME GLASSES
Carefully bend the arms or earpieces using small pliers or your hands.

FOR PLASTIC FRAME GLASSES
Gently heat the upper arm with a hair dryer to soften the plastic. Slowly adjust the plastic downward with your hands until it reaches the desired position.
